2009 Pinot Noir
Vineyard Information
The grapes for the 2009 Pinot Noir were sourced from some of our best vineyards. Our Circle K Ranch in Lodi produced excellent fruit due to the excellent harvest of 2009. This Pinot Noir is blended with 17% Syrah, which hails from our Monterey County coastal vineyards, and finished with 3% Petite Sirah from Lodi.
Winemaking
Harvested during the cool mornings in Sacramento County and the Central Coast, the grapes were brought into the winery at a cool 55 degrees. After a brief cold soak, the grapes were then sent to tank for an eight day fermentation. The wine was aged with American and French oak for six months to add complexity and round out the tannins.
Tasting Notes
This Pinot Noir is rich with berry and cherry fruit. The wine starts with hints of green tea and mint, and leads to flavors of violets and toasty oak flavors. A smooth, silky texture and mild tannins make this wine a savory pairing with turkey, roast chicken, baked ham and fresh pastas.
